Unique Comrades Marathon/Kruger Park experience We know what is important for runners, and we are able to meet those needs every step of the way! Your itinerary will be as follows: Thursday - 26 May 2011:Arrive at Durban airport, collected by your guide who will transfer you to your 4-star Bed and Breakfast accommodation in the Hillcrest area along the Comrades route.
Friday – 27 May 2011:After a hearty breakfast a reconnaissance drive along the Comrades route with some of the prominent landmarks pointed out to you by your Comrades experienced guide, who will also fill you in on the history of the race and discuss any logistical support you may require. Saturday - 28 May 2011:Runners taken to register at Comrades Expo and assisted in registration and collection of your race number and T-shirt. Sunday – 29 May 2011:
Runners transported to the start of the race in Pietermaritzburg. Monday – 30 May 2011:Runners transported to traditional Aches and Pains Party. Tuesday – 31 May 2011:Transfer to St Lucia to Bed and Breakfast accommodation or Durban airport for those not taking part in the Bushwise Safari to the Kruger Park. Sundowner boat trip St Lucia. Wednesday – 1 June 2011:Transport to Bushwise Safari lodge via Swaziland. Wednesday – 1 June 2011:Transport to Bushwise Safari lodge via Swaziland.
Thursday – 2 June 2011:Full day safari in the Kruger National Park in an open safari vehicle with breakfast cooked for you by your guide at one of the picnic spots in the Kruger Park overlooking a waterhole. Friday - 3 June 2011:Option of half day safari in Kruger Park, or relaxing by the pool at the lodge. Saturday – 4 June 2011:Up early to return to Johannesburg via the Panorama route. Sunday - 5 June 2011:Breakfast at your Bed and Breakfast accommodation. Rates:R1850 per person per day sharing. Excludes:Alcohol and beverages. Includes:10 Nights accommodation. Please do not hesitate to contact us, should you have any questions regarding the travel package, training, diet, weather conditions and race registration. We will take the hassle out of you having to get to the start on time, get to the expo to register the day before the race, and find accommodation, transport and meals yourself. About us
Rob White, receiving his Comrades permanent number. Rob, your Comrades guide/host, has been running for many years and completed over 50 standard marathons, 71 ultra marathons ranging in distance from 50 km to a 100 miles. This includes 20 Comrades Marathons with a PB of 7 hours 16 min. Rob has also been involved with the administration of road running for many years as a chairman or committee member for some of the biggest running clubs in South Africa.
Tim van Coller, owner of Bushwise Safaris. Tim has been a registered guide who has been operating in Kruger National Park and surrounding areas for many years. He has also completed a number of Comrades Marathons, Iron Man and Mountain bike stage races. 4 years ago he did a solo 2 700 km kayak trip down the Zambezi River.
